As a picture, they say, is worth a thousand words – this site is for everybody I meet either socially or on the web, (Facebook, Twitter etc.), which they can open with just a simple click of the mouse to see the original images in detail for themselves without my having to try to explain the content of the work to them via text or in vague conversation.
This new technology is a modern miracle really for artists of today which not only enables them to disseminate their images and reach a world-wide audience of like-minded people via the above mentioned social media, but is also an opportunity to sell and have future exhibitions -whether this be in galleries and museums, or perhaps in more open public places like shopping malls, empty shops, airports, schools and colleges etc.
At the moment I do not tend to sell my work for two reasons: the first reason is that I am mostly interested in keeping the work together for exhibitions ( if I sell a picture it cannot then be exhibited,), and the second explanation is that because some of my work tends to manifest itself over time into themed sets, Chess Moves, Travelling Show, Time And Motion, the Point, and co, I never can be quite sure if any of my single images might be an important part of a future themed piece that is still brewing away in my unconscious mind!
Of course I will have to start selling my work soon in order to protect it for the future( I would hate it to end up in a skip or on a bonfire somewhere on someone’s backyard ,), and I am not averse to selling reproductions, (for anyone who is interested in say chess for instance,).And anyway, how do you price a piece of art that may have appeared spontaneously fully formed like Windfarm, or another that has developed over several years as the pieces one by one randomly manifested themselves – as in Chess moves or The Point? Not easy.
